Straw votes at two early political events in Polk County, the Winter Haven Whistle Stop and the Haines City Pig Roast, gave Adam Putnam 79 percent of the support over his Democratic opponent and signaled the beginning of the 2008 campaign season. At the Whistle Stop Thursday, August 7, of the 269 people who voted, 212 (79 percent) supported Adam. The next day, at the the Pig Roast Adam, won 162 (79 percent) of the 205 ballots cast. Last week at the Political Rally in Bartow, 152 (62 percent) straw ballots out of 244 went to Adam. And at the Kissimmee/Osceola Hob Nob 63 percent supported Adam. Thanks to everyone who took the time out of their busy days to get involved by meeting the candidates and participating in the straw votes.
